Australian Red Cedar Timber

Australian red cedar timber dominated the interiors of colonial Australia in the 19th century and was used extravagantly for fine furniture and joinery in places such as Government House and Sydney Town Hall. In 1795 became Australia’s first export as it was not economically sensible to send ships back on a six month voyage with an empty hold.  Australian red cedar has very fine grain and has an astonishing reddish brown tone with fine dark brown striations along the grain.
