 Australian Garnets

Most garnet forms when a sedimentary rock with high aluminium content is metamorphosed. High heat and pressure breaks the chemical bonds in the rocks and causes minerals to recrystallise into garnets. Garnets are most commonly found in shades of red, but can be orange, yellow, purple, green, blue (rare), brown, black, pink, and even colourless. Australia produces almost half of the world’s garnets and is arguably the largest garnet producer in the world. We have taken garnets, carefully crushing them and meticulously nestling them in place. The encrusted blank is ground into shape on a lapidary wheel, coated  and polished to a spectacular crystal clear shine. The pen pictured is not the pen you will receive but it will be just as stunning and will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the makers.
