Camphor Laurel Timber

Though not native to Australia, camphor laurel trees grow so readily here that in some parts of NSW it is considered a noxious weed. Camphor laurel is easily identified by the pungent camphor odour arising from crushed leaves or exposed wood. Camphor laurel timber is a beautiful, rich honey-coloured timber, often found with streaks of reds and browns. The timber has antibacterial properties and is prized for use in chopping boards.
