Jacaranda Timber

Jacaranda is a popular tree that is eye catching in spring throughout Australia with the tree ablaze with bright purple flowers. The timber is pale and creamy with a faint timber grain visible. It is not an Australian native tree but grows plentifully and is especially well known in the Grafton NSW region as well as Brisbane. Brisbane City Botanic Gardens is the site of Australia’s first grown jacaranda tree (planted in 1864). It was made famous by the artwork ‘Under the Jacaranda’ painted in 1903. The first jacaranda remained tall and beautiful in the botanic gardens until 1979 when it was blown over in a cyclone. This jacaranda timber is from Redcliffe, QLD.
