Get back to nature with our naked timber pen range. We leave the timber bare but silky smooth. No chemicals or lacquers are applied during finishing, just a friction polish that creates a natural texture that is warm and grounding. With use, the timber takes on a lovely natural patina.

The Workshop Sketch pencil has a broad, bold form, and is unbelievably comfortable in the hand. It is equally at home in the workshop, man cave or an artist's hand. This chubby pencil reduces hand strain and also allows a decent grip for people who have limited hand dexterity. This pencil plants a tree.

Red Ash Timber

Red ash is an Australian native with a straight grain that darkens to a bright red colour with age. It is prized for cabinet making and boat building. The timber was once widely used for barrels and buckets and earned the name 'Coopers Wood’. Red ash is an excellent wildlife tree and host plant for many butterflies such as moonlight jewel and small green-banded blue butterflies. Red Ash is also known as soap tree. Aboriginal people used it for soap as the leaves contain saponin and when crushed and rubbed in water, they create a lather. This red ash wood was salvaged after storms damaged the tree in Grafton NSW.
