Silky Oak Timber

This fountain pen is made from silky oak timber. Silky oak is one of the most popular ornamental native trees in Australia with it’s stunning vibrant orange, toothbrush like flowers. Silky oak timber was once used extensively in North Queensland for house framing and there is much vintage furniture displaying silky oak's coarse and textured grain. Silky oak is a light to medium reddish brown timber, it is highly figured, with distinctive grain and large medullary rays.
