Silky Oak Timber

Silky oak is one of the most popular ornamental native trees in Australia with it’s stunning vibrant orange, toothbrush-like flowers. There is much vintage furniture displaying silky oak's coarse, variable, decorative and textured grain within the wood. Silky oak is a light to medium reddish brown timber, it is highly figured, with distinctive grain and large medullary rays. Silky oak has long been a favourite of furniture makers, wood turners and carvers.
